Wanda Holloway

After retiring from NC State government, Wanda decided to go back to school. She is currently pursuing a B.A. in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management with a minor in African-American history. When she’s not studying, she spends her time serving her community and following her dreams. For the past 12 years, she served as a member of the Town of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. When her tenure with the Parks and Recreation board ended she was recognized for her service by the mayor at a town council meeting. 

She continues serving the community by volunteering at the Holly Springs Food Cupboard where, for the past ten years, she has served on the Board of Directors. In addition to volunteering every week as the Distribution Coordinator. In 2020, Wanda was designated Holly Springs’ Citizen of the Year for her volunteerism in the community.

Wanda is an accomplished performer of inspirational and gospel music with special event, recording, stage and television credits. Wanda has performed twice on Bobby Jones Presents, a nationally televised gospel music show, as the opening act for gospel artist, John P. Kee, and at functions honoring Congresswoman Eva Clayton and Reverend Jesse Jackson, Jr.

She has independently recorded an inspirational and gospel album titled I’ll Never Turn My Back on Jesus, which can be found on iTunes and Amazon Music. She is currently working on her follow-up album.

Wanda is a founding member of the Ransom Hunter Foundation and oversees all genealogical research related to Ransom Hunter.
