Our efforts to research and document the life of Ransom Hunter began with amateur genealogist, Wanda Holloway in 2008. And she continues her research today.
Wanda uses a variety of methods to complete her research, using genealogical websites, interviews, visits to city, county, state and federal archives and researching newspaper and library archives to find information.
Sometimes, research begins with a document that Wanda finds, and then she investigates further for more information. And other times, research begins with a bit of oral history that Wanda wants to confirm.
To complete a concise narrative of Ransom Hunter’s life includes using a combination of oral history and documents which can be challenging at times. However, we strive to be as accurate as possible in our findings which means sometimes we will have oral history that we cannot confirm with documentation, and other times we will have documents that we cannot confirm belong to our Ransom Hunter.
For that reason, our official narrative of Ransom Hunter’s life only includes information that we can support with documentation.
We are compiling stories about Ransom that come from the family’s oral tradition (i.e. not backed up by documentation) but that type of content will be clearly marked as oral tradition.
Researching family history is fun, interesting and open to all, however, we will only be including history related to Ransom Hunter that has been researched, verified and documented by Wanda Holloway and her team.
